First of all I hope you all had an amazing Christmas and New Year!
December is one of my favourite months of the year. I am totally obsessed with Christmas and all that comes with it (needless to say I am very sad it’s come to end).
I wanted to start the new year with a blog post on some of my favourite things that I have been loving throughout December. Some things I have bought myself and others have been kindly gifted to me by family and friends for Christmas. So lets do this….
House & Home
As some of you may know we are looking to buy our first house this year, super scary and grown up but also extremely exciting. So I have started to build up a collection of prints and artwork for the walls. I have never been good at decorating bare walls or having any idea what to do with them but having seen so many Instagram posts from the brand Desenio I decided to give it a go.
Desenio is a Swedish based company specialising is quality prints and frames. Their minimalist styles are my favourite. I have ordered two prints in December, one is an abstract gold, blush and grey and the other is of a Dachsund wearing a roll neck (because…why not? He’s cute and I’m not allowed a real one). The prices of the prints and frames vary but I find them very reasonably priced, they often have offers/free shipping which is a bonus.
Anthropologie is my all time favourite for home ware, they always have the cutest woodland inspired things. So when they went into sale just after Christmas I had a little browse and found some plates and coasters that I love! Our dinnerware is a bit of a mismatch situation, we have our standard ikea set but whenever I see a cute mug or plate I just buy them. I like that we have some more special pieces like these.
The plates I bought are so pretty with an Owl and gold detailing. I would love to use these for desserts. The coasters are with a badger and leopard. The plates were £10.95 each and the coasters were £3.95.
Food & Drink
Obviously December was a very indulgent month, one of my favourite things to drink this month (alongside some chocolate) is the Cherry Bakewell Tea by Bluebird Tea Co. I love all the teas from Bluebird Tea Co. so whenever we visit Brighton we always stock up. The flavour is really delicate and tastes like almonds and berries. So delicious and a nice alternative to builders brew.
I have been really samey with my make up in December and have been sticking to my trusty Double Wear, Copper Eyes and Charlotte Tilbury Glastonberry Lipstick. I haven’t bought any new make up for ages so my beauty favourites for December are more skincare based.
Firstly, I have been loving The Body Shop Spiced Apple winter range. It smells incredible, it’s very fresh with a hint of spice which is nice because it doesn’t have that sickly sweet Christmas scent. My nan bought me a set for Christmas and I have been using it everyday since. I think it has all gone into the sale now so you might be able to catch some bargains. I know I will be buying some more!
Secondly, another winter scented item I have been loving is the Liz Earle Cleanse and Polish with Sweet Orange & Clove. I use the standard Liz Earle Cleanse & Polish everyday so I was really excited to try this. I asked for this for Christmas and my mum kindly bought it for me and it’s so so nice. The smell is really zesty and it makes your skin feel refreshed and revitalised. I have been using this in the mornings as it is a great way to wake up!
My all time December favourite is my new Barbour Beadnell Jacket that my Boyfriend bought me for Christmas. We bought it just after Edinburgh on Cyber Monday so we got a really good deal for it. I know lots of people like surprises for Christmas from their boyfriend but we’ve been together for ages now and we would rather buy each other things we need. I’ve wanted a Barbour for a really long time, It works with lots of different outfits and is so comfy to wear. I also love the little tartan details on the collar and cuffs. I’ve mostly been wearing it with a red jumper, black leather skirt and my Dr Martens.
My other clothing favourite is embroidered jeans. I’ve got two pairs from Topshop which make a simple outfit that little bit more interesting. I’ve got a Mom fit pair and Jamie skinny pair which I have been living in over the past month. It’s nice to add a little colour as I am usually wearing black for work.
We were lucky enough to visit lots of amazing festive places in December such as Christmas at Kew, Brighton and an amazing trip to Edinburgh.
We also went to backyard cinema to see Bad Santa which was in Elephant & Castle in a warehouse space called Mercato Metropolitano. I was so impressed with this indoor/outdoor venue, everything is of Italian origin so if you love Italian food this place is perfect. There were so many delicious options for food including gelato. The venue is great for couples and big groups as there is plenty of seating, they also have a really nice outdoor space with fires to keep you warm. The venue also has an Italian supermarket where we picked up some Christmas presents for my dad and family.
Thank you for reading, I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas and New Year! Lots of love Xxx
